A letter from our director

Dear Members,

As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I struggle to find the words to fully express the immensity of the moment, and the journey to where we are now. When I attempt to, I only find myself engrossed in thoughts and memories, outward sighs and chuckles, mixed with sadness and grieving.

One of the thoughts strikes strong and deep: about how many people rallied and wanted to be there for you, to match your strength and courage, to lift you up when you were down and help you as you helped us. I witnessed convincingly that your heart of service and sacrifice was tested and found pure and true. It was inspiring, otherworldly, and so powerfully impactful, it naturally extracts a desire to honor and to serve you with my whole heart.

I stand on the shoulders of giants who started the FDNY’s WTC Health Program Clinical Center of Excellence (CCE) with small, humble beginnings, and committed to establish the best possible service for you. From where it has been, to where it is now, I want to share with you my firm commitment to an ever-improving CCE that will make a difference for you. I want to share with you my vision for our CCE and what it means for us to finish well - I also shared this with the entire staff. It’s a picture of shaking the hand of the last member we care for in our clinic. What an honor it will be to get there! Here’s to the next 25 years. We will be here for you. We will never forget.

“Until the very last member is taken care of… never forget.”

Sincerely,
Dr. Jayson Park
Deputy Chief Medical Officer
Director of the Clinical Center of Excellence
